It is looking more and more likely in the UK the padel courts will be opening soon!
With more and more people playing padel, the competition is going to get tougher and tougher this year.
We need to make the most of this year, and push ourselves to the next level.
How can we do this?
Here is the ultimate post lockdown padel checklist for when we get back on the court!
1: A new padel racket
Nearly all of us have NOT played in 2021.
New year, new us, we all know that a great way to improve is by upgrading or replacing your padel racket.
Let’s start the year with a brand new padel racket.
Use this time in lockdown to reflect, were my shots lacking power before? Did they need more control? Was I uncomfortable after playing for a long time?
A new racket can solve all of these problems.

2: some padel clothing
The warmer weather is not too far away.
Before you know it you will be on court in 30 degree + heat.
For those hot tournaments and intense matches make sure to get some new breathable padel t-shirts and clothing.

Hats and Grips
It might be an idea to get some new padel hats to help block the sun and protect your head.
Padel grips are also great for a hot day playing padel. I would recommend replacing your grip every couple of weeks when we get into the summer.
3: a padel bag
People are often reluctant to get a padel bag, it took me nearly a year to get one, but once you do, you will not regret it.
A bag seems unnecessary to someone who plays more than once a week, but it is not, it is actually extremely helpful…
Think of the amount of gear you have to bring around every time you got to play padel.
A new padel bag will store everything together and make it easily accessible.
You can store clothes, food, shoes, multiple rackets and more with a decent padel bag.
4: book lessons
Let’s be honest, a lot of us are going to be unfit and a little rusty when we go back.
Book a lesson to get back into the swing of things and get your game better than it was last year.
Booking lessons with top coaches will improve your technique and game as a whole.
Why is technique important?
With the proper technique, your shots will be a LOT more consistent and effective. It allows you to manipulate the ball in certain ways, making it way tougher for your opponents to get the ball back.
You can also learn secret tips, tricks and tactics that you wouldn’t have thought to do by playing casually.
It will also help you get a lot fitter! Which is needed for a lot of us after this lockdown.
5: play at least 3 times a week
Set yourself the goal of playing at least three times a week with at least a 60 minute session each time.
That will lead to at least 12 hours a month, and give you 36 hours for the summer.
For every match, social, mix in and tournament, put your name down.
Not only is this fun but…
Your ability and technique will skyrocket if you keep this up after lockdown!
