What is the difference between an overgrip and a replacement grip?
An overgrip is a thin tacky layer you wrap over your existing handle. Cheap, quick to change and what most players replace regularly. A replacement (base) grip is the thicker cushioned layer underneath, changed far less often.
How often should I change my overgrip?
Frequent players change overgrips every 3–6 sessions, or as soon as the tack fades and the surface goes shiny. If your hand slips on serves or smashes, it’s time.
How many overgrips should I put on my racket?
Most players use one or two. Add more layers if you want a thicker handle for a fuller hand position, and many pros use two or three. It’s personal preference, so experiment.
How do I apply an overgrip?
Start at the butt of the handle with the tapered end, anchor it with the small adhesive tab, then wrap upward overlapping each turn by a few millimetres. Finish with the tape strip included in the pack. It takes under two minutes.
